The intelligence community has determined that the Iraq war did more to support terrorism than to stop it.

It isn't really all about oil. That is just the easy answer.
It's more about revenge, at least for Bush. Revenge and finishing the job, one-upping his daddy.
But Venezuela doesn't have nearly as much oil as Iraq. Oil probably does play a role in why we are there.
Anyway, your argument relies on the president making the best plan. That obviously isnt the case. If you wanted to get oil, you could have gotten more somewhere else by now, but that doesn't prove that Iraq is about terror.
There was an op-ed piece in the London Times about three weeks before the Iraq War started that said Iran woulod be the more courageous choice. If you wanted to combat terror, Afghanistan was the harbor for Al-Queda, if you wanted to really drive that point home, Iran was the biggest source for terror funding.
Iraq didnt harbor terrorists. Iraqi government under Hussein killed the extremists that are going to be a problem for the US for years. I didnt like Hussein, he was an evil man, but he didnt sponsor terrorism, at least not the kind that leads to things like 9-11. He terrorized his own people which is bad, but now we are terrorizing them. Only difference is now his people revere him and hate us - before they both revered and hated him.

Wow, you recognized that Americans are there for oil. That´s nice. Americans can´t stay in their own country. They always have to messing around in another country. And when they get hit, they get very angry. They think that they are the only ones who can go to somebody else´s land and cause problems. If they can go, the others can also come.

How about invading Mexico instead? They got as much oil as Venezuela, it's closer, no need to use oil tanker ships, and we could keep out all the illegal immigrants.

You fool! We shouldn't be invading anyone for oil!!! Our government is incredibly short sighted and corrupt! Letting the special interest groups and corporate corruption take over and hijack congress and the white house. We have no business being the world's police. We have our own social problems that should be top priority. NOt to mention finding alternative fuel sources that are clean and renewable! We should be ashamed of what "our" government is doing to the rest of the world. We are no better than anyone else.

What Democrat told you we were in Iraq because of oil??!!
It's just a myth. There's more important things to be done in Iraq than "steal" oil.

You must be an American. Why the hell don't you drill your own oil? You've got at least a 30-year supply. Why do you let yourselves be defeated by the Marxists that now contol your Congress? What the heck is wrong with you suckers?
