I go to a catholic school, and my dad thinks that I'm supposed to dress into one of those suits that take a week to get tailored, even though the admission for one student was $7.50. For a private school, what would be the appropriate attire for a homecoming dance? Unless I know, my dad will keep fussing at me.

Generally the school will advertise the attire for the dance. It'll say something like "formal", "semiformal" or so forth. If you haven't heard anything like that, ask the people at the school who are planning the dance.

Usually guys wear a suit. But try to find out which teachers were chaperones in the past at your school's homecoming dances--ask your favorite teacher or ask in the school office if you have to. Then, ask one of those teachers who was a chaperone before what most of the guys were wearing last year.

Catholic school may be different but in my school we had themes for our dances(except the prom) and we dressed according to the theme.
