First: multiply the 1st & 3rd coefficient to get "-300." Find two numbers that give you "-300" when multiplied & "-5" (2nd/middle coefficient) when added/subtracted. The numbers are (15 & 20).

Sec: rewrite the expression with the new middle coefficients...

12x^2 + 15x - 20x - 25

Third: when you have 4 terms - group "like" terms & factor...

(12x^2 + 15x) - (20x - 25)

3x(4x + 5) - 5(4x + 5)

= (4x + 5)(3x - 5)

You mean the factors?

The factors of 12x^2-5x-25 are 4x+5 and 3x-5

12x^2-20x+15x-25
=4x(3x-5)+5(3x-5)
=(3x+5)(4x+5)-----------This is the answer
