it is a personality trait......some are just domineering and like to take control of everything around them. they have gotten away with it when they were children and as adults learn to master it.

the way to counter this is for another person with a strong enough character to stop the control freak from pushing them around.

a person with a weaker character or personality does not have a chance but can learn to develop self confidence or else get to a point that they get so angry they fight back because they have had enough.

people are complicated, aren't they.....lol

it is a need that stems from childhood experiences...wanting to be accepted but also to have control is equal to a form of power..that means that if you can regulate a condition to your liking or disliking, you have more power in that situation...but it is a form of insecurity, rather than adapting to a situation, you're shying away from the possibility of rejection and disappointment...hence, avoiding growth as a human being...

i think child abuse esp if the abuser strikes at random as my father did

never knew when he would jump at me and poke me or jab me in the side

I was scared of him and still at age 64 have severe startle reflex; and need control . I will not do anything that I can't control the arrangements
