Does anyone know the socket the New AMD Quad-Core proccessors will use for non-corperate applications? such as gaming and home use.

PLEASE NO FANBOY NONSENSE!!!

If you are referring to the new Quad FX setup, which is basically the ability to use two dual cores on the same motherboard, it is called Socket 1207, although its basically just two modified socket AM2s on the same board.

Now if you mean AMDs upcoming true quad core processors, they will run on socket AM2+, emphasis on the plus, it is different then plain socket AM2. AM2+ will add support for the new and faster HyperTransport 3.0 and will have some different power features. They will work in plain socket AM2 socket (yes, finally backwards compatibility) but they will not be able to benefit from the new faster HyperTransport and power features.

Oh by the way, there will NOT be a socket 939 version.

doubt there will be a socket 939 version. as they are phasing out the 939 soon. would be a waste of their time and money.

as far as socket they will use it will be the AM2 as its their newest socket to date.

definately socket AM2, it works quite well and is still new. there will be a socket 939 version released (God willing).
