Why are snakes afraid of sulphur?

It smells awful. And, since they use their tongues to help them smell and sense the world around them, it probably tastes awful too!

They are not. This is an old wives tale often used to sell 'snake repellent' products- which do not work.

i work in laboratories alot and trust me sulfur smells horrible.
