my FIRST time singing on stage is tomorrow. and this is very scary, cuz i've never even been on a microphone before! so how do you think i can cope?
thanks! i need a way, cuz i'm terrified, and this is bugging me. i'm usually very soft-spoken, but tomorrow, everyone will actually be able to hear me, and that's the scary part!

i totally see what you mean. my first time singing was a while ago, and i felt the exact same way. i'm also very soft-spoken, and when i spoke into the mike, the entire auditorium and people outside the auditorium could hear me too! it was quite scary. but trust me, that's only for the first few seconds you get on to the mike. then it'll get better. that nervousness will go away fast, as you concentrate on your song. so just forget about the audience, and just sing and have fun! also remember to not be too hard on yourself. also, you may want to try some breathing exercises. inhaleeee.... exxxhaleeee. lol.
good luck! :-D

Stage fright, I get it all the time, too. This is a hard one to get over. There are professional singers out there who still, after, 10+ years, still get nervous going up on stage. This is how I cope with it: I just tell myself that I should be proud of my talents and that I'm not embarrased of myself. It doesn't matter whatsoever what anyone else thinks. Evenif they think you're bad or something, tha doesn't mean anything. They aren't the center of your world and you don't live to make them happy. You're doing it 'cause you want to(hopefully). Just go up there and sing yuor heart out. Because, before you know it, those few minutes will be over and you will go on with your life. This stage fright is just another bump in the road. Before you know it, tomorrow will be here and then it'll be gone, just like that.Good luck and give it your best, that's all that you can do. I hope you do good, but remember, there is nothing to be afraid or embarrassed of. Everyone goes through this. I take a theater class and everyone there is embarrassed and worried that they'll mess up and they think they're alone, but everyone else feels the exact same way. Alright, good luck and don't let the nerves get to you.

What you should do is record your voice a couple times. Get used to your own voice and feel comfortable in your own shoes.
What your probably going to feel are "butterflies" and your probably feeling them now. But those "butterflies" is really an adrenaline rush. Thats a good thing! When your adrenaline is pumping, your more focused, you can act more spontaneously, and you can do whatever your doing.......better.
So when those butterflies come a' flying, just remember that they're there to help you out. This has alwaysed helped me.
A few steps:
1. record your voice - feel comfortable in your own shoes
2. don't strain your voice - sing naturally, almost as if your alone
3. don't take a good look at the croud untill after you've begun (this may help with the intimidation factor)
3.5 you may actually want to look at the croud before to take everything in. (could actually help)
4. when those butterflies come, remember - they're there to help you.

try to remember the last time you did something for the first time... like pet a dog or tell a secret to a new friend.
look back on that... here you are today! so it didn't kill you.
I bet you can sing like no other! prove it. look to God up in the air and pretend there is nobody else there.
Practice singing as loud as you can and tomorrow wont be so bad... you will have the mike... and you want to know the truth??? Rhythm is more important than the note
have fun let me know how it goes!

I just went on stage today so I knwo what youa re talkign about. We had finals for dance and I was scared. Most of the time, this is becuase we , as people, think too mcuh and assume the worst. We cause this on ourselves which is natural. Just think that's its not that big of a deal and everything else will follow!

If I were in your shoes I would go to the doctor asking for some anti-anxiety medication like Xanax. You have no idea how frequently people take them before going on job interviews; I have done it myself. Just explain the situation to your doctor and he or she will understand: "Better Living through Chemistry", as the old slogan goes.
