I have been wearing cordoroys or slacks with sweaters this winter. How can I dress it up a little. What other tops can I wear after winter. What type of shoes can I wear? I like to keep my feet warm, so I would need light stockings. I have the color coordination down, but I need help looking for the right tops. I am losing weight which is giving more confidence and in turn am buying new clothes. Any help is appreciated.

I wear a lot of casual type wear at the office. The trick is closed heel pumps, and sheer stockings in the right color. Don't go bland with the stockings and make sure they are sheer. Ultra sheer if possible. The shinier the better. The lightest I ever wear is suntan in summer, but in fall and winter I prefer coffee, gray , off black, or sheer black . When wearing black they should be ultra sheer, or they will come across as casual tights.

As for shirts, I prefer the simple men's cut shirts, in cotton or silk. I sometimes buy simple cotton shirts in the boys department, you can get Ralph Lauren at half the price as the women's section. Silk shirts in bright colors, plus black, white and Ivory are always a good bet and go with anything. Good luck, but its the sheer stockings, and high heel pumps that will make the outfit classic professional dress. Cami's are great under jackets, and worn with pants, heels, and stockings (no socks please) or with tailored skirts. I even wear jeans on Casual Friday, with sheer black stockings heels and a jacket and silk shirt, and get compliments all the tme.

Wear nice stockings, they dress up any outfit, I do it all the time. I wouldn't go light unless it is 100% where you work, since it is winter I would do the coffees, and off blacks. Grays and jet black are good too, as long as they are sheer. Stay away from the heavy Lycra "tights" look, its too casual.

Wear nice tops in silk, or nylon in basic and primary colors. Jackets help dress up pants, and high heeled pumps dress up everything .

Cotton shirts - see landsend.com for ideas. The broadcloth ones in solid colors or striped patterns are great for work. You can layer them over a t-shirt or camisole for a different look.

Consider a blazer in corduroy or tweed that you can mix and match with other things. Lands End is good for these too.

Belts and accessories like brooches, scarves, good jewelry, a nice handbag, etc. are good way to add flair. The best part is you can wear them consistently as you continue loose weight.

As for shoes, it depends on your style. Flats like penny loafers or lace up oxfords, etc would be good. Look at zappos.com for ideas. Clarks and Timberland have good collections for women.

Lastly, oldnavy.com has a wear to work section for women & plus sizes. Take a look at the outfits for ideas. Old Navy is a good source for inexpensive clothing and accessories. It is a bit on the trendy side but the wear to work section is a good one.

Accessorize! Earrings that show through your hair. Necklaces, bracelets, anything like that can dress you up.
