Go to playa de las americas, the night life is a hoot.

Tenerife, of course, is in the Canary Islands. It's claim to fame is that the airport at Tenerife was the scene of the collision of a jetliner lifting off the runway with another jetliner still on the runway. It was the greatest loss of human life in any aircraft accident. Tenerife gets a fair share of tourist traffic, so I'd assume it would be a fun place to try.
