I have a friend who had hyperthyrodism for about 15 years .The doctors in a Beijing hospital used I131( 131 iodin)to cure her disease on Jan 2006. Here are the test results after she was cured .
2006 April T3 1.5pmoi/i (standard 3.09-9.83) ; T4 3.81pmoi/i (8.07-26.27) ; TSH 4.8 (0-7.9)
2006 July T3 2.5 pmoi/i (2.5-9.8) T4 8.0 pmoi/i (10-25) TSH 40 ( standard less than 10)
2006 Oct T3 3.5pmoi/i (2.5-9.8) T4 8.0 pmoi/i (10-25)
TSH 50 ( less than 10)
2007 Jan T3 1.37 pg/mL ( standard 2.3-4.2) ; T4 0.43 ng/dL (0.89-1.76) ; TSH 61.06uIU/mL (0.35-5.5)
In April 2006 , she cramped slightly .She was also afraid of cold and liked to sleep . But from May on , she felt good .Although her test results isn't good now, but she feels good no bad symptom . Is she sure a hypothyroidism patient now ?Can she have children ?

I have hypothyroidism and keep my TSH numbers steady with levothroid. I have 4 children...2 were conceived after I was diagnosed with the disorder.

No matter what her test results, she still has hypothyroidism, was never "cured" and requires thyroid hormone. Hypothyroidism is associated with infertility because the low levels of thyroid hormone interfere with ovulation. As to whether your friend ovulates, that is something she will have to pursue with a fertility specialist if she's interested.

hypothyroidism runs in my family and from what i understand its basically something you have for life. my aunts take pills everyday to correct their levels. but you can still have kids - my aunts do.
