AFI, but old AFI, like before Decemberunderground. Their first couple of albums were awesome, if you're into the more hardcore punk sound. If you're into a more mature, lyrical sound, then you would like their newer stuff. I thought Decemberunderground was just crap.

AFI!!! Look even if AFI haven't been around for 15 years, they're music is STILL better than Panic. Panic! at the Disco is Fall Out Boy Jr. they don't appreciate the HARD WORK it takes to make it in the mainstream music scene, because they were handed their success, and won it overnight, and the teeny boppers ruined the little credibility they had, Sure they have a couple catchy tunes, I have caught myself singing along to "I write sins not tragedies", but I highly doubt they last nearly half as long as AFI has, and will fade into obscurity once the teenyboppers grow up and this "emo" craze goes away. AFI wins, no contest. They pwn Panic at the disco.

edit: haha someone gave you the thumbs down A_fire_inside_aod, well I gave you the thumbs up, lol.

I know isn't it the funniest....those panic! fans know nothing.

AFI, they've been around way longer, and their music is awesome. Not that I don't like Panic! At the Disco, I just think that AFI is better.

AFI
Panic look like babies against AFI

AFI used to be a very respected undergournd hardcore-punk band. They've been together for 15 years. Most of that time was spent underground, where they toured tirelessly for many years and releasing albums and EP's that never reached beyond the underground.

They have seven albums in their sleeves and have many, many EP's. Most were released on vinyl.

Their music never stays the same. They always progress and change. And us fans know it. Early AFI was just straight-up punk. Then they became more hardcore. Then more darker-punk. Then more glam and anthemic.

If you do research on both the bands' history, AFI wins straight-up, hands down.

Panic never did anything special. They never sacrificed much. They never paid their dues. They just got everything handed to them. They set up a website, Wentz calls them up and the next thing, they're all over the media and getting hyped over.

It will be very hard to respect a band that reached success like that.

Noone in their right mind would choose Panic over AFI. That is unless they're little teenyboppers who don't know much about music.
