Im thinking of buying either the les paul standard OR the les paul standard plain top. They are two different models and the plain top is 100 dollars cheaper, but what exactly is the difference?

I just checked them out on the Epiphone site.They are the same guitar with a different finish. They will both sound the same, and play the same. Neither one, by itself, will get you laid.

Probably not a whole lot, I would go with the Standard though. It is a "safe" buy. If you ever sell it, you will be able to get most (if not all) of your money back

Im not a guitar player but I never regretted paying more for an instrument. In the music world, you get what you pay for.
