if asking of a human skeleton then when a baby is born it has 270 to 300 bones. Later when it grows up, according to gray's anatomy, the bones fuse and become 206 which remains for the rest of our life.

Whose skeleton? Insects, Jellyfish, Squid etc. dont have any bones. A domestic dog has an average of 321 bones. The average number of distinct skeletal structures in a young human is 200, exclusive of the 6 ossicles found in the ears.
