It depends on the type of tree. Most ornamental (ones that flower), like crab apples can generally get 25' tall. Shade trees, like maples, can reach up to 80'. My advice is to find out how much room a tree has to grow, then choose accordingly. A good site with lots of reference material for home owners is www.shermannursery.com.

It depends. Some trees are only 15 ft., while others are 100 ft. or more. It matters how much water they get, their other care (Pests etc), their climate, their soil.
