I had my last period Dec.31 I have not started as of today. I have taken 4 home tests. The first 2 were on Jan. 25 and 27. They were both neg. Then I took 2 on the the 31st. They both had VERY faint lines. Then today Feb.2nd at the health department the test was pos. but again the line was VERY faint. I looked up some things online and read that the faint lines could be a possible miscarriage. Yet the nurse today said no. That a faint line does not mean you will miscarry. I am concerned since I had 3 miscarriage before my two kids were born, yet all those preg.test had very bright lines. I am wondering how common it is to have very faint lines on the test and still have a healthy pregnancy.
I would think that after being this late for my period (was due 1-26 with a 26 day cycle) would mean the HCG levels would be high enough to to give bright lines.
If anyone has had several tests with faint lines but had a full term healthy baby please let me know and calm my nerves.

First off, congrats! Second off, you failed to mention what time of the day you tested. First morning urine is by the most potent so if you had gone to the bathroom before testing, you were using less potent urine.
Now, with my son- (my third child) my positives were so faint, I thought they were evaporation lines! (And this went on for a good month before I finally had a "viability ultrasound" to confirm I had a healthy little bean in there) He is now 8 months old and a very healthy little chunk of wonderful.
If you are worried, have a quantitive beta blood test done. This will measure the EXACT amount of Hcg levels in your blood. Good luck, and again- congrats!

I took a test on a hunch and got a VERY faint line. So light that when my husband asked what the test said, I told him it said "maybe". I took another one a few days later and it was also very faint. I called my doc and they sent me for blood work and viola! I have a daughter. She was born a week early and was almost perfectly healthy (slightly jaundice, but otherwise perfect). I never got a bright line because I did not want to waste money on any more tests when I knew I was getting a blood test done.
My pregnancy was perfectly normal the entire time.

I had very faint lines with my home and office tests. I was a couple days overdue for my period too. Don't worry. It's normal. Mine were so faint I had to make sure I wasn't seeing things. The only time u should worry about faint lines is if u are significantly furthur along. Start taking ur vitamins now, and unless u have any heavier bleeding or cramping other than spasms, I wouldn't worry. Congratulations!!

I have had just that hon. Don't let it scare you too much. When I got pregnant with my youngest son, I had just a very faint line on the HPT--2 as a matter of fact. I went to the Health Department also and they confirmed that I was pregnant. On August 25th, 2003 I had a perfectly healthy 9lb 1 1/2oz baby boy. Good luck hon and try not to stress too much. It isn't good for you or the baby.

all 4 of my kids started with very vaint lines and theres nothing faint about them now!! lol. they are 6,5,4 and due in April! a poss is a poss no matter how faint it just means your hormones are not that high and the pee test is having trouble seeing it but if it sees it it will show poss. when you go to your DR they will do another and then do blood work (ask about a early sono)(usually used to verify earily preg) the blood work should tell you how high your hormone levels are and the sono will set your mind at ease. Your due date should be early Oct. Your only about 5 weeks so the hormones whould be low they will be higher about week 7-8

I had very faint lines with my last baby for weeks and weeks. I actually had my period with him, but it was very light, so I took an HPT and had faint lines. I couldn't believe I was pregnant, so I took 10 more test over the course of 2 weeks (different brands) and all had faint lines (even after my pregnancy was confirmed by my OB).
My son was born last April and was actually a week late and completely healthy.
Good luck and I hope all is well with you.

Faint lines just mean very little hcg is detected. However since the ones before were negative your hcg has been growing. Don't worry, your hcg levels should start rising pretty soon. Faint lines do not mean you are miscarrying.
13 weeks and 6 days pregnant

Oh that stuff you read on the net is just plain lies!!
As long as you have a line not matter how faint you are pregnant. The test is geared to show a line when it detects the HCG hormone (pregnancy hormone). It won't show a darker line v. lighter line way more credit for the pee on a stick test :)))
BTW, mine was super light at home too. I freaked out and bought another brand recomended by:
http://www.peeonastick.com
That was a more clear positve.
Congrats!
