Just tell her whenever you want like if you are in the car on the way to school or something just say mom, can I start picking out my own clothes? or I don't really like the clothes you get me I'm 12 too and I started when I was 10 or so.

Listen, this WILL work:
Your mom probably doesn't want you to buy your own clothes because you'll be getting abercrombie/hollister/"name brand" clothes. SO, get a magazine full of some clothes your mom would approve of, and look through it in front of her. While looking at the kind-of-ugly clothes that your mom likes, say, "Mom, I'd really like to be able to choose my own clothes, so I can buy clothes like these..."
Or something.
Then your mom will let you buy what clothes you want. FIRST buy those dumb clothes that your mom likes from the magazine, so she sees that it was a good decision.
Then, slowly transition to buying those abercrombie clothes that YOU like.

Can you do something to earn some money to pay for your own clothes? Maybe see how much she plans to spend for your clothes. Find out how much the clothes are that you want and earn the money to make up the difference. That will show that you are responsible. Part of growing up is taking on more responsibility.

First of all, Abercrombie and Hollister stores are bad for the economy. Secondly, let your mom do what she has to do. Once you get a job, you can freely pick the clothes that you want. Let her pick because it is her money.

I am 24 and my mom still tries to pick out clothes for me if we are out together...its just natural for them! You're her little boy and she wants to show you that she loves you and can provide for you.
Plus, shopping at stores like Holister and Abecrombie are a total waste of money!!! You can buy clothes that are just as cool looking at other stores for alot cheaper!

Get a job and buy your own clothes. Otherwise just suck it up and deal with it. We all had to live with our mothers dressing us funny. It builds character and how else are you going to find out who your true friends are. They will be the ones that tell you you look good even when you have your double-knit reversible slacks on.

Wow, my brother's 13 and he wont even pick out his own clothes. He hates shopping.
Just ask your mom, if you could tag along with her the next time she shops for clothes for you, so you can have some say into them.
