Silence is the exact moment when sound is no longer in motion.
All silence is created from the conscious end of the last sound made, before the next is begun. The consciousness of sound continues on as thought. Like motion with no substance, thought makes no sound, yet the effects are apparent to the bearer of that silence. Thought travels as inspiration and progresses to an idea. This idea, in turn, becomes a new sound.
It is therefore the same silence as thought. Only now, it has been placed in motion.

Silence is an abscence of vibration or thought. Silence only feels like a presence because of the way we experience it. Silence has a significance to us. When the creatures of the forest become silent, it means there is a predator on the prowl, for example.

probably :) the silence between thoughts, the silence between lives, the silence between two notes (of music), the silence in ourselves..
we try to stretch the silence between thoughts and probably that's why another thought comes, we want to live, we want to hear the music, we want to understand ourselves, but..
can we define that silence as peace? peace between every little thing? a peace due to understanding and not compromise? an eternal peace, which we recognise for a second and then it slips away from us like sand in closing fists? just because we try to grasp it instead of letting it flow?
i don't know if i really 'answered' your question or even if i got what you wanted to say. still, a silent peace. :))

True silence can only be achieved in a vacuum. Sound travels in waves and needs a medium for the wave to travel through.
On earth there is not such thing as total silence, although there is in space. - this is assuming you are basing this question what we call hearing as a human experience.

Yes. It is where emergencies come from. The name says it -- things emerge. From where? From what? "The Void" is as good a name as any. And one of the best writings on the topic is Lao Tsu's "Tao Te Ching."

The sea of eternity, which is woven through all things. So all silence resides within.

I believe yes for both queries. Especially when your mind and heart is at peace with the answer.

You always think even when you "think" you don't. Lol.
But that's just the inside of your head.
Silence is when you don't say anything. Your eyes say it all. That "space" between your thoughts, time and what you want to say but cannot.
