I have posted several similiar questions about my S10 Blazer due to starting issues etc. Problem is I just found out from the family member I bought it from, he was digging steamers low tide when tide came in it was buried, still running barely enough to make it out of where he was, now 4 months later I'm stuck trying to get it to stay running, new rotor, cap, wires, plugs, battery, but I noticed the distributor was all rusty under the rotor, could this be the reason why it's giving me trouble starting...and what else should I check for, I don't think there's water in gas, I drove it actually for 1 day fine. But now scince tune up it starts only when it feels like it.

I am a mechanical engineer and about 10 years ago I owned an 89' blazer. Salt water will corrode anything metal. This will affect anything electric. Buy 3 cans of De-Oxit! contact cleaner, a small stainless steel brush, and start pulling every electrical plug, fuse, relay or connector you can find and 1) brush it if at all possible, if you cant fit it, then 2) use a q-tip soaked in the De-Oxit, thenlet those sit for 3 minutes with the solution on it, and put vaseline (vaseline blocks oxidants and keeps the connection from failing) on the connectors and re-assemble them.
Distributor: First, use a scotch brite pad and clean all the metal contacts inside and out, the spark plug wire connections too, then I would use a light amount of de-Oxit on the inside of the distributor, cap and rotor then wipe it off after 5 minutes.
Spark plug wires: Spray WD-40 on a rag until its doused, then wipe the exterior down on each one with it, getting it clean. Look for hairline cracks in the wire, if you find one, this will cause the engine to not run correctly and I would replace any wires that do.

Good Luck!

P.S. Pressure wash the bottom of the car and all the nooks and crannies to get the salt out of there, it will eat your body and frame too! Then Spray it with Amsoil Metal Protectant spray, it acts like a oily wax undercoating that impedes rust from building.

I have to agree with those that are telling you to scrap ti, have a cousin that tried to bring back a flooded car from the grave but it wound up nickel and dimming her for the entire time she had it. It really was more trouble than it was worth and in the end the electrical system was toasted. There was no hope for it right from the start. She would have been farther ahead (money and time wise) to buy a new one.

if it was saltwater, you may have more trouble than you think.the ignition module is in the dist.you can try and replace it,it's about 125.00 from napa.but I would pull out the plugs and make sure they are gaped rite.use ac delco plugs..if that dosent fix it,take it to a shop and tell them what happened.you may also have bad connections in the electrical connectors.look at them as well.if any are discolored, clean them up.check the ecm and make sure that no water got in there.a scued ecm could also cause the probl;em you are having.I wish I could give you better news but hope it helps
