Where is Tornado Alley? Why is it called that?

tornado alley is the flatlands the plains kansas..oklahoma... etcetera... that whole strip between the rockies and the mississippi river.. its called that because cool aor from the rockies mixes with the warm gulf air coming up through texas and makes torandos...which is why kansas has a lot of tornadoes
