Frank Peretti is a wonderful Christian author (though it's easy to forget about the Christian part when you really have your nose in the book). I know he has written some adult novels, and I am sure he has written kids.

Anne McCaffery is another good writer she has written for both young adults and adults and so has Madeleine L'engle Both of them are very good writers I have books by both authors.
