How about Styx "Come Sail Away"? The melody is brilliant. It starts out a pretty piano piece and builds into a soaring rock anthem. The singer's voice is the perfect compliment, and 30 years later we argue about what it means. Great song, obviously.

I used to always say "Stairway to Heaven" because it WAS for so long, the best song ever. Still is hard to beat.
"Can't'cha 'Hear me Knockin' " by the Stones..greatest Sax solo ever.
"Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac. Still great after all these years. Will always remember where I was the first time I heard it (in my truck on the way home from work on a Sunday)
"Time/Great Gig in the Sky" by Pink Floyd. Takes you places you never been before.
I rate a song great if it makes me smile after twenty years(or more) and I say "Oh Yeah" when I hear it on the radio after a long time not hearing it.

Led Zeppelin- Stairway To Heaven
It's a total classic, sweet solos, and riffs. Awesomeness!

Queen- Bohemian Rhapsody
Cool song as well. Has a little bit of everything. sweetness.

If you haven't heard any of these songs, you don't know what you're missing1

That unforgettable intro? The harsh rockin' voice of Brian Johnson? Dude, gotta give it up for "Back in Black" by AC/DC.

I dare anyone to try NOT to start doing the head nod thing when that song starts up. You can't deny it. Everyone falls victim to it. It's just an unwritten law in life.

Of course, most anything by AC/DC is a great rock classic.

Smoke on the Water: Deep Purple

It has the world's most recognizable riff, but it still has an underground cool the Sabbath or Zepplin doesn't have.

"Walk this Way" by Aerosmith. It's got an irresistable beat, sexy lyrics, and a great guitar solo. If that doesn't make a great rock song, I don't know what does!
