All arguments have holes in them, that's why there are more the one side to an issue. Euthanasia is a controversial topic, you can take a religious-moralistic approach, an ethical-medical approach, or a right to self determination. How do you feel about it? The only right answer is your conclusion.

Write about a topic you are passionate about - it makes things much easier. Euthanasia is good topic and you shouldn't have any trouble finding opinions on it. You will probably see many of the same themes expressed in the opinions, so try to focus on 2-3 themes that make the most sense to you. If you have a strong opinion about a topic, approach the subject as if you were writing the counter opinion to it. Try to identify all the ways that your opinion could be countered and when you go to write your essay, address those.
Good Luck!

You can try to research the cases of Dr Kevorkian aka Dr Death.
His assisted suicides where VERY Controversial . Although wasn't really bad in my opinion. Many of his clients were terminally ill and wanted to end their life. They ( and some their families) gave him consent to assist with his practices.
You can also try the Terry Shivo case ( Penillas County Fla.) where her Parents fought her case all the way to the supreme court . She was in a veg state and her parents were against the Hospital to remove the feeding tube from her body.

A skilled debator is not one who can pick the perfect topic. A skilled debator is one who can argue either side of any topic.
Dig in and research euthanasia to death and then use it for your topic.

Maybe this will help get an idea going for you:
________________________________________
Euthanasia
Assisted Suicide
Thesis Statements:
Physician-assisted suicide should be a legal option for terminally ill patients.
Physician-assisted suicide should be illegal.
Some of the issues in this argument:
Should terminally ill people have the right to control their own death?
Would legalizing assisted suicide relieve families of the burdens of caring for a terminally ill relative?
Would legalizing assisted suicide lead to euthanasia?
Should doctors be prosecuted for assisting in the suicide of a terminally ill patient?

School uniforms is a biggie, you may want to try smoking in public restaurants, prayer i school, nature vs nurture. You may want to type in your goggle box "controversial topics", and see what else pops up.
Good Luck
