As as 23 year old female, I think that Angelina Jolie is important because her self-confidence is great! More girls should be as confident and "love" themselves as much as she does.

Angelina Jolie is important because the media can use her likeness -- to sell. She's been a 'loose woman' for over a decade, whose claim to fame was tattoes, being drugged-out, acting weird in public and having sexx with her then much-older actor boyfriend in the limo and having him brag about it. NOW, mags can carry all that forth -- and show the pouty lips etc. without saying so, and capture both men/women's attention for this sex symbol (who has been trying to legitimize herself for the last 5 years). She'll never win an Oscar, but she's got the USA's attention. Within 1-2 years, you'll forget she dated Brad Pitt when she moves on.

Jolie has promoted humanitarian causes throughout the world, and is noted for her work with refugees through UNHCR.
And yes that is commendable for her to do this. However, I think she could have waited for Brad Pitt and Jennifer Anniston to get divorced on their own. Brad is as much to blame as Angelina. I don't care for someone who has to break up a marriage. After that mess, I really don't care what either of them do.

Important to who. She is only important to her kids, husband and the studio she works for. Whatever else she is doing oversees might make her important there. Actors make a lot of money if they are good, but it doesn't mean that if they stopped acting the world would change.

She's not any more important than anyone else. I don't know why people are so interested in celebrities. I think it's silly.
