I mounted a caddy 8.2l in my chevy dually, last night temps went to 37 below zero wind chill, and the unused ac compressor seized throwing off the power steering/brake belt and taking out the water pump, alternator belt when it shredded I am now tring to find a way to bypass the AC compressor pump altogether does anyone have any ideas I am stuck and its very cold outside

Unplug the A/C at the compressor and see if the compressor pulley free wheels. If so, reinstall with a replacement belt. If this doesn't help, try pulling the compressor away from the engine and with the compressor pulley out of reach, see if you can install a shorter belt to the other pulleys (don't forget to release alternator or power steering pump for adjustment).

If a shorter belt won't work (and I know sometimes other things get into the way of using a shorter belt), you can fabricate an idler pulley where the a/c currently is. Other than that, the next easiest thing would be to replace the a/c compressor.

If you were talented enough for the engine swap this should be a piece of cake
