Well stated, Kelly B.
I voted Republican since Reagan, but I just couldn't handle year after year after year of deficit spending. For the first time in my voting life, I did not vote Republican last time.
I think a lot of people vote party lines because they don't have the time, energy, interest, resources, etc. to get an informed position on every single candidate or issue. Therefore, it would be a natural tendency to go with the party which they feel represents their interests most often.

It is important to always look at the facts about a given subject, especially about politics, before you make up your mind. It is also wise to check out a lot of sources, and not just stick to one source to make your decision--otherwise, it would be like always voting a straight party ticket without reviewing the candidates.
I have yet to find any party line, either main party or third party, with which I totally agree. And many times it comes down to who is the better candidate--who will truly walk their talk. I am a member of one of the main political parties, but I have voted for a candidate from the other major party when I thought they were right on the issues and the best person for the job.
Voting is one of the five duties of a citizen, and I take the responsibility very seriously.

You must be talking about 'Health Nut', but either way..
I have noticed that some Republicans and nearly all NeoCons do not factor truth and reality into their worldview but think and speak in "talking points" handed down from the Alpha Male(s) du jour.
Rarely can they speak to more than a thin surface of an issue and when pressed resort to "fight or flight", with an insult and then they're out.
This would be amusing were it not destroying us.

Not only do I debate the "facts" offered, I look at the person's voting record. I don't take any of them at their "word." Vote the person not the party.

Always make your own decisions. As a Republican, I also agree with a lot of Democratic views.
It's not smart to just follow the squeaky wheel, after all!
