You can, and if you are good at math, you can consider being an engineer instead.

Well, there are two types of architects: those good at design and those who are more technically oriented. I am a technically oriented architect. Design is not really fun for me. I can do design, but it takes me more time than the other guy in my firm. He loves to do design. His office is always messy and he hates details. I have a fairly neat office and I love to figure out details. It takes both kinds of architects to make a good firm. My friend works on all the designs and I figure out how to build them. Together, we make a good team and a good living. So (and this comment is coming from a licensed architect) sure you can be an architect! You'll just be the detail type.

Art and Design classes will help you develop this ability. Along the way, go to the library and read magazines like "Architectural Digest" and interior design magazines. That will help you begin to understand design.
Also read books about architects, you will learn the many ways architects become interested in architecture, get through school, and what kind of careers and lives they have. You will enjoy that.

All skill is learned. With some hard work and training you can become good at design. Of course it will take WORK.

Don't listen to these other people that tell you you can't do it because that is not true.

My suggests is to start at a liberal arts college and take the basics, learn design, build a portfolio, then transfer to a architecture program. If you're still in high school you should take some design classes, or sometimes they even have architecture classes you can take. Go for it!

You'd make a fine architect. They aren't good at design either. Construction workers fix all of the architect's mistakes.

If you are good at geometry, carpenting, technical stuff and a little bit of art, then you'll be fine, you can do it. I thought about being an architect, but I'm not very good at math, so I changed my mind. Good luck and God bless!

Somebody already did that and built the World Trade Center, and look at where THAT is now!!! We do not need anymore BAD designers...There are more than enough already! O.K. if you only design basements...they don't usually cave in on themselves.

You probably would find it very stressful work. Engineers and architects start with a blank piece of paper. You might not enjoy it at all.

Are you good at art?

yes you can, because a big part of it is creativity and being able to come up with concepts and ideas. Designing is something you can get better at through practice. You can do anything if your heart is set on it.
