i want to buy a new graphics card but i dont want to switch my mobo to pcie yet cause i dont have the money.... they card i want is 8x but my board is 4x..... will it work? thanks!

8x AGP cards will definitely work in a 4x slot. Just make sure that your computer power supply meets the requirements of the video card that you purchase. Having too little power will cause the video card to either: 1. Not work at all, 2. Put a big power drain on the entire unit which can lead to random shut downs and can also cause optical drives and hard drives to fail faster.

It depends on the card. Usually, yes, an AGP 8x card will work in a 4x slot - just not at 8x!
