If you want to play BF2 online. 512 Ram can kill you with the waiting time as punkbuster goes thru its anti-hacking thing. Get at least a gig of RAM. If you want better graphics, your video card is sort of on the cheaper side. Get a 7600 for 150-200 dollars. You should see an improvement easily.
And PCI-e is better than AGP. So if you have to slot, go for the PCI-e card.

You didn't say what video card you have right now!!! well there is a lot of options out there, but I wouldnt worry about trying to get one with 512MB, at $100 range is better get a nicer one with 256, I know you don't like nvidia, but I have a BFG 7900 OC GT for over 6 months now and I love it, I can play any game with good quality and is also very quite!!! but anyways I wouldnt get anything less then ATI X1600PRO or Nvidia 7600 gs. and you definitely need at least 1 Gb of ram!!! and I wouldn't go with AGP, they are good cards but you way better off with PCIx.

AMD X2 3800+, 1 GB (2X512) DDR Corsair XMS, 7900 GT 256mb

You need more memory to run that game effectively to begin with. Secondly, you are not going to find a good 512MB video card for that price, you need to look at 256MB cards, and probably save a little more money. PCI Express is the faster of the two. Remember on the video card amount of RAM is not everything, in fact it is low on the list of importance. You need one with a fast core clock, fast memory, and at least 12 pixel pipelines.

hey Chris, i might advise Skyrim, it wasn't my variety of element the two, have confidence me. yet there is plenty to do, and as quickly as you play it, that's going to at last "exchange into your element". i might advise it, definetly. in spite of if, in case you do no longer want Skyrim i might say Uncharted 3 (in case you have a PS3) or murderer's Creed Revelations! stable success
