I play drums so that's what I'd pick. There's a ton of variety. You can play xylophone, bells, snare drum, cymbals, bass drum, tympani, and more. It's a great experience in learning new things, multitasking and getting some free time in the process.

Trumpet is relatively difficult. It requires loads of air, and tons of issues with noise. My sister, the harpist, is learninig flute and doesn't really enjoy it. It's too hard. Plus, there's the contest for piccolo, which is super hard.

Good luck!

if you want to play pep band or jazz, the trumpet would be a good choice. Drums fit best to rock and all the stuff on the radio. The only way a flute would make the list is if its really good and is a solo with good vibrato and things.

Personally, im a saxophone fan. We can play and fit into anything. Nothing beats the gentle sound of a sax.

They're all great. I've played all three, but I played the flute the longest, for 12 years. Drums are always good for fine tuning your sense of rhythmn and it can be really fun, at time I think it's the most fun, and there are a variety of percussion instruments to eventually learn. The flute takes a lot of air and a little more focus on your airway. This is because you are not blowing air through the instrument as much as you are blowing across it. You can learn to gain an enormous amount of dexterity in your fingers, and if you are good at listening for pitch, then you'll have an easier time staying in tune. this is one instrument that can get out of tune easily. The trumpet takes a lot of air as well, but it travels through the instument differently. It is more directly moved through the valves. Playing the trumpet relies on your ability to "buzz" your lips while pushing air through it. The fingerings are easy to memerize because there are only three keys.

All of these instruments are good choices. Just because you pick one now doesn't mean you can't try them all. Go with the one that feels more natural and is more fun.

drums are usually the more popular but the trumpet is up there too. personally i would play the trumpet because in high skool it gets really competative about drums and if your not good enough they switch you to like cow bell or sumthing and if you didn't play high skool, there's no way to get into a college band.... i'd go with the trumpet!

I'm going with the flute. Why?
The trumpet can be rather brash. I'd prefer a flugelhorn over a trumet any day.
Drums are very cool (percussion), but they don't actually make the same kind of musical tones as a horn.
The flute is something that can be haunting; especially at night, by a campfire, next to the river.......

TRUMPETS RULE! (even though we are kinda cocky) Drummers are annoying and retarded, and the flute it's self is annoying. Who wants to hear a tril an a 5th octave A anyway? but besides the instrument, all the flutes are drama queens....

alright now, anyone can keep a beat so drums are out,trumpet.....pffffffft, but come on to master the flute is to master an instrument that when played fits right were it should and draws attention to itself, example "hocus pocus" by focus(full version btw) Ian anderson(jethro tull btw),its an instrument that can find a place in any genre of music,so sayeth I, but thats my opinion, hehe,to add a flute can add to any song no matter what the genre
