The flasher goes in the fuse box under the dash. It normally is on one corner of the box. If you look at the fuse box cover you will probably notice that there is sort of a bubble on it to allow room for the flasher. Usually a new flasher won't look exactly like the old one. They probably will be different colors and they come in both square and one round shapes - but they do the same thing and it is all ok. It will simply pull out, sometimes takes a little pull and the new one just plugs right in.

on all fords they have 2 flashers they are both located under the dash right under the steering column there is one in a clip . and the other one is in the fuse block , the one in the clip is the emerg. flashers the other is the turn sig.

Most vehicles have the flasher unit located under the dash near the steering colum..... they usually located it there so that you can hear it when your indicator is turned on.... not sure on the explorer.... but check there 1st

There are TWO.
One flasher, and one relay.
One is in the fuse block, and the other is dangling up behind the dash near the fuse block.

On a ford, you don't go with the cheapest or easiest to replace component like a relay. In your case, it's more likely the combination switch problem, and I do not recommend replacing it yourself because you may need special tools not to mention possibility of exploding the air bag (if your model is equipped with it).

its under your dash usually located around your fuse panel also take it to where you bought the part and ask them if they would put it in for you or the person you take it too to get it inspected.
