Seems like it would eliminate a lot of second guessing by career politicians who have no real world experience.

Who says there isn't an army under the control of elected officials. Review some of the recent issues with CIA and other alphabet groups. How many "black operations" have you heard of? Who is responsible for these? Who is funding them?
I clicked on to there website and read their brochure. It is nothing more than a security company that hire experts. Since they are a company, they have there fees. If a government or business desires to hire them, they pay the fee.
I have not heard any media stories on Blackwater, so I'm not informed about their activities. But, Blackwater would have to obey the laws of the land they are in. Or, they can face prosecution. If they are working for an Amercan business on foreign soil, the said country can oust the business. Hence, this would terminate the contract.
They are a company for hire. Our government could hire them for black operations. This releases the government of any wrong doing. That's why we have black operations.
"Golly, these Americans appeared in your country and did what? Well, that's too bad. We can't stop a citizen from commiting a crime in your country. We didn't send them." That's the dialogue used to deny our funding them.
You are correct, Blackwater employees do not have to adhere to our military laws. It is a company that sets its own standards just like Wal Mart or Home Depot would. But, their employees would still be subjected to the laws of the land.
There has always been companies like Blackwater. There is a need for them.

That sounds like a great idea. Then we can be just like Iraq. Anyone who can afford to put together a band of social misfits can command his own private army. Then the national army can pretend to put down insurgencies, while the president makes secret, back room deals with the private army commanders so he can stay in power.

I think we should expand this role in the world. Basically be the worlds mercenary army. Its very important to realize that we are now 3rd in arms sales worldwide we have fallen significantly behind France and Russia. This is because we dont give parts to anyone that crosses us politically so now Venezuela and Iran have no parts for their military. We should dissolve the formal military to the greatest extent possible. Increase the availability and scope legally for the Blackwater entity and then farm them to anyone for any conflict anywhere. It is far superior to the current model where we are mercenaries for Israel, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait (vis-a-vis the Iraq invasion). Then we employ americans at what they do best. We should make the marine corps basic training available to Blackwater employees.

I’d like to train at the Blackwater camp just so I’ll know how to defend myself when they stage their inevitable coups.

No. The private Army is designed to be used by the powers that be in any way they deem appropriate, including turning on U.S. citizens. Think about that.

Blackwater rules. If it takes a private army to do the dirty work that the left can't stomach than hell yeah! I'll even kick in a few bucks.
