Just buy an adaptor... you can buy universal travel adaptors in Canada. It will just allow you to plug the Pc plug in the adaptor which will plug into the wall.

Will cost a couple of pounds / Dollars / etc...

Well, for the actual plug, its not a problem. You can get a simple adaptor that will change from one pin set to another. In some regions of China, the same plug is used except it is not polarized.

Your problem will be the voltage and frequency of the current. The voltage is 2 times higher in China then Canada. Most computers will work on any type of circuit but performance will be affected. A way to check is to check your manual for the power ratings. If your computer cannot take the change in the power, you can buy transformer or inverters (depending on what you need) at a travel or electronics shop.

most of the co,puters have on the back of the power supply a red slide switch that will change it from 115 to 220 or 240 pending on the power supply. this will let you change the voltage very easily. as for the electrical cord from the power supply to the wall outlet if it is different than what you will have at home you can buy another power cord from where you will be living and it will plug right into the power supply on your computer. these cord are really cheap in price as well. hope this helps.

most computers are either 120 volts or you can change the voltage settings on the back of the power supply to 220 volts.
Here in the usa 110 to 120 volts is used. And If you don't have asetting then if yours is set to 220 now you may have to change out your power supply to get the lower setting

Since you live in Canada, and I live in the U.S. Why don't you pose that same question in CHINKLAND before you leave? Or better yet, as you'll most likely be flying open the nearest window on the airplane and toss it into Lake Ontario as you pass over it.
