Well, most people (no one in particular) are total JERKS that don't mind there buisness and push others around for stupid reasons, like how they look, what they like, etc. Why is that?

It's your fault for provoking them, loser.

The simple answer is 3-fold:

1) Life is hectic. It makes people feel pressured and threatened on many levels, all the $#@! time, so they naturally reflect that outwards to varying degrees.
2) Many are ignorant, selfish or both to varying degrees. If you understand the world with relative clarity, in its good & bad aspects and are more focused on what you are doing rather than what you can collect or who is a pestersome nit, much of that stress goes way down.
3) If you feel that most people are jerks, consider what kind of emotional radiation YOU are emitting and having reflected back at you. See 1) and 2). If you can make sense of your stress (dividing it sensibly into what you can avoid and what you have to face head-on), you're more in control and better prepared for the unforeseen.
If you get a sensible grip on your Wants, aiming for the most rewarding things without wasting your time/energy/money to excess, selfishness will fade and make you more palatable to others, thereby receiving less of their jerk-y aspects. Focus on what's really important to you and don't let all of the whirling sociual and pop-culture noise make you think you have to be all things to all people.
If you understand the flow of things better, you can develop a bit more sympathy for others and get better responses. Are a certain number of people going to be distant, difficult or yes, jerks? YOU BET! However, in my experience, you can often get great results with a quick compliment, a thank-you at a tight moment, an expression of appreciation for how hard someone else's position is or letting them off the hook casually when they expect to get a hard time.
You can't escape all of it, but if you walk away when you can, plow ahead when you can't and show a human side in either case, you can find yourself in the company of non-jerks as often as not. That may sound like a simplistic response to a complex and persistent mess, but its all a game of percentages. Consider applying a few of these ideas and see if your odds don't improve.

I often wonder that myself. I have come up with this: I feel that for the most part, people who are very unpleasant, or as you stated, "are total JERKS", are that way because they have a very low self-image. They probably don't like themselves and, or, they have so many character defects of their own that they treat others really badly like that because it helps take the focus away from their own flaws and directs the attention onto someone else (or so they believe). Some will also put others down because by doing so, they are able to feel good about themselves.

I wish I knew, but it's hard for me to understand that kind of behaviour. Some people are cold, cruel and callous....maybe it's their upbringing, maybe they are insecure and need to bring other people down to make themselves feel better or maybe they are just showing off to their peers. Whatever the reason, it's not acceptable and you shouldn't have to put up with it.

But just be grateful that you will never be like them, they are the ones with the problem, not you and you should never let them bring you down.

Take care : )

sometimes its because they have problems of their own and take comfort in the fact that other people do too. Like for example if someone is having a really bad day.. say they lost their job than they might take it out on other people b/c they don't know how to deal. Or they are just afraid to let other people see who they really are...

Some people (a lot ) try to make themselves look good by making others look bad. It's the easy road to feeling like they are worth-while without effort. You need to be really nice to them. It ignores what they get out of it.

It's the society. Today, it seems people are almost encouraged to be that way. They see jerks an TV, and in the news, and imitate it. Good question.

Some people lately feel like they are in a kill or be killed kind of world and a single act of kindness basically is a weakness towards the predator.

Two reasons. #1. They CHOOSE to be that way. #2. Others around them ALLOW them to be that way.
