ok, i know everyone is going to say "dating online is never safe" but at what age do you think people are mature enough to make safe decisions with online dating?

ummm...well...when ur 18 and ur an adult. But just be careful...cuz some ppl are stalkers or rapists. So don't meet anyone that you have met online cuz that is VERY dangerous. Be safe. :)

I think that there is never an age where one is mature enough to date online. Online dating can be very dangerous and can really change who you are. You will constantly be on the computer and may be anxious to get on the computer. You also may not be spending as much time with family. But, if you're thinking like eHarmony, I'd say you have to be over 25. 25 is about the age where the mind is fully mature, and is also a pretty good age to find a spouse, I guess.

you know as far safety goes i have to wonder if computer meeting of someone would not be safer. think about it if you met some man at the bus stop and dated a few times unless you went to his home you would not know his address and you would not be likely to have any meathod tracking him.
when some one uses the computer it is my understanding that none of what we read or type or do is ever really deleted so that means if you used a webcam to speak to this person the webcam images would be on the computer as well as every thing done and so that would seem like an additonal safety messure to me
what age to start i suppose what ever age parents decide to let there child start dating . so long as the child lets the parents know how he or she met this new person re online then it would not be different as for age then a regular date.

"Mature enough" or not,its still never a smart decision to date online. No amount of maturity is going to let you know who your really dealing with. Typing via internet is only words,typed. You cant even look into the persons eyes,look at their body language,hear their voices tone to even begin to second guess their level of integrety. You cant even know for sure if your really talking to a man who is 6ft with black curly hair,or what have you. Its never smart. If you must,do it in a VERY public place and dont let on to your address,last name or home phone even,he can easily spend $50 and get all that info with just one piece of it.

its never safe to date online. but an appopriate age if you want, is 18-21. thats when your legal and responsible for your own choices. be careful its some crazies on the web, so keep online dating strictly online.

My nephew dated a girl online, she came to live with him, she had to have a background check done for a job, turns out she was a felon. He is 24 and she was 22. So I dont know what to tell you. They talked for about 6 months before she came here.
