I had a friend who's dog and cat did the same thing. It is normal. Your dog is just acting on an instinct to procreate. No harm done. It makes for good party entertainment lol.

This is a common dominance problem with dogs. A dog who feels it owns the house and everything in it will mount objects, other pets, and in extreme cases even the owners. This is not an acceptable behavior because this display of dominance can lead to aggression and other behavior problems. To resolve this issue the owner must take the lead and let the dog know there is a new "pack leader" in the home. Everything from your sofa to your cat should belong to you.
To begin, make sure your dog is receiving daily walks to drain some of her excess energy. Keep her walking beside you, not dragging you so she knows you are in charge. When at home make sure she is calm around the cat, and not over excited. when she tries to mount the cat (she will test you to see if you mean it or not), give her a simple correction of a noise or word, like "ahh!" "shhh!" or "no". and make her sit down.
this behavior issue will take time and consistency to correct, but you can do it. and your cat will thank you!
good luck!

My rottweiler and my cat are best friends and enjoy "having fun". My rottie just had a liter of pups(my friends would joke that the cat did it) but now she'll let the cat nurse off of her. Hell she'd let the cat do this even when there was no liter- I guess gods cruel version of foreplay. My rott will also carry my cat in her mouth like a mama would her pups and take the cat to a secluded area and let the cat perform. It's just the hormones, but don't worry you won't have any "ceagles" or "beaglats"

It's a dominance thing.
I have a female dog and a female cat, both spayed. My dog will mount and hump my cat now and then. It is just their way of showing who the boss is. She will also do the same to my large breed neutered male dog. She is a very dominant, bossy little thing.

It is totally possible for a dog to enjoy playing with a cat and vice versa. I used to have a dog that wouldn't go to sleep unless his cat was in the bed with him. Notice that I said 'his cat'. After he came into the house they became bosom buddies and after the cat died, he mourned until we got him a new one. Just enjoy the show don't question the motives.

canines could have an hypersensitive reaction to fairly any element of their nutrition. beef allergic reactions fairly are not uncommon in canines in any respect, and fowl is transforming into a splash extra common an hypersensitive reaction. Your dogs isn't allergic to all meat, yet he may well be allergic to extra desirable than one. Your vet fairly could have given you some form of information on doing a nutrition trial or identifying on a "hypoallergenic" nutrition. Feeding cat nutrition using fact the extensive-unfold nutrition regimen for a dogs is by no skill ok. Cat nutrition is plenty bigger in fat and protein than dogs nutrition and this could reason a good number of problems to your dogs. interior the quick run it may reason pancreatitis, which will reason your dogs to offer up eating and characteristic vomiting and diarrhea (and can be deadly if not taken care of with IV fluids and antibiotics). interior the long-term, the extreme protein content fabric could reason your dogs to have kidney failure. besides, cat nutrition manufacturers use the top comparable "meats" as dogs nutrition manufacturers. in the experience that your vet suspects a nutrition hypersensitive reaction, there are various dogs meals accessible for canines with allergic reactions. What you will could do is seem for a singular protein source, something that your dogs has by no skill been uncovered to before. in the experience that your dogs's nutrition is beef or fowl based (as maximum dogs meals are) then you definately could attempt a nutrition with a various meat base, which contain lamb, turkey, venison, rabbit, or fish. Grain allergic reactions are extra common than meat allergic reactions, so which you additionally should seem for a nutrition with grain factors that your dogs has not been uncovered to. likely the grains on your present day dogs nutrition are corn, wheat, rice, or soy so seem for a dogs nutrition that would not have any corn, wheat, or soy in it (rice may well be an allergen, even nonetheless it fairly is not a typical one so the possibilities that your dogs is allergic to rice is quite narrow). ultimately, in case you ever think of your vet has given you a diagnoses which you do not have confidence, seek for a 2nd or possibly a 0.33 opinion. Vets are human and that they especially situations make blunders. yet while 2 or 3 vets come to the comparable analysis then you definately can experience quite valuable that that's in reality your dogs's undertaking.
