Get a good book and start with an easy language, preferably one like Pascal that teaches good structured programming technique. Don't start off with something like C or C++ because you'll just get confused with all the little things that are unique to the language and get in the way of learning programming.

Start off with simple programs that just print output to a console, working your way up through more complex programs and then other languages.

To be a good programmer, you need to have good logical thinking. You can search the Internet and look for some programming languages, that are in demand. Then you can buy some good books (may be free e-books) related to that language.
Joining a computer institute can also be a good idea. Best of luck!

first start by learning how to speak the English language, and then how to type without typos. Once you got that under your belt try and find a class for it, starting at you school or local collage. If not you can try and teach yourself using a long list of compilers. I would suggest learning visual basic, and using Microsoft Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition to do it. It's currently available for free by Microsoft and you can even right programs for there now os with it. Have fun, but its not going to be an easy trip. Heres the site for the compiler. http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/vb/download/

Learn Common LISP and C. Once you have those two down, pretty much everything else falls in between those two extremes or abstraction. Then start coding!
