DS, Animal Crossing, how do get into?

How do you get into Redd's tent. I was told use the shovel on he's tent but I must did something wrong. Can u help?

go around talking to people... one of them should tell you a password... when redd asks you the password tell him it... must be very specific. Also if you want to become a member you need 3000 bells!

Do what the above person said, and when you enter for the first time, he will send you letters about the password.
