Why did you pick the country you did?

I would also like to know what country you are from, or which country of the ones you have lived in you preferred.

Thanks!

I would say U.S.A. because I believe in a capitalstic free market economy. I've spent a lot of time in European countries where the socialistic governments restrict the economy with regulations and punish hard-working citizens with excessive taxes and reward non-working citizens (many of whom are able but unwilling to work because it is easy) with welfare. These countries have an unemployment rate much higher than the U.S. The drawback for the U.S. however, is that some important things, like health care, are insufficient. I think we could behave a little more like the socialistic countries with respect to health care.

U.S. is also great because our constitution and bill of rights protect citizens.

I am from the U.S.

I think the USA is by far the best. It has more freedom than any other. Lots of opportunities and Many different climates and terrains.

Canada has good points like free health care but it takes months to see a doctor.

The South Americas have too much corruption and separation of wealth, English countries have labor problems.

I have always thought Switzerland would be nice but I don't like the cold and snow.

I think you can enjoy most anywhere in the free world, all countries have their problems, but as long as you have the right to travel and leave anytime you want try out a few. If you’re young Hit Europe for a year or two Spain and Italy has always seemed interesting. Make up your mind. If you’re adventurous try Australia, New Zealand another wonder of the world, but have strict laws. The world is at your feet pick a point and go.................

I lived with a lady from the Ukraine for a year and the stories she told of not having hot water and heat, poor selection of goods, I have seen the living conditions in Belize and Mexico and the lack of goods, and these were in average areas, but the people were happy with a smile on their face and always a welcome. The kids out playing with nothing and enjoying life.

I was born in Idaho, lived in the western states AZ, CA, WA, OR, ID, UT, and visited DC, Maine Mass, FL,GA,MO,KS, Have traveled to Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, Belize, Mexico, Ireland, England, and enjoyed every where I've been. But still come back to the states because we have so much here. Traveling around especially the poorer countries will make you see how good the states are and how easy we have it.

Right now the government isn't that good but as a general rule the USA is by far the best country in the world.
Allows greater freedom for worship and has jobs that pay decent wages. Other countries don't do either of those things.
If we don't like the president we can say so with out fear of being tortured to death or having our familys killed.
Has libarys that allow you to read for free, so everyone has access to knowledge on a varitety of things. Now librarys has computers in them for free. Where you can get on the internet and talk to people and see things around the world.
I live in the USA and proud to be an American
Like the girl who said Egypt has the same corrupt government for 50 years. Thank God our president can only be in office 8 years.

The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg

I live in U.S.

Because this is a practicing democratic nation, that believes in Humanitarian Assistance to All People, NOT MILITARY INTERVENTION.

The Military consists of a solitary branch: the armyan all-volunteer force since 1967. of approximately 450 professional soldiers, about 340 enlisted recruits and 100 civilians, and a total budget of $120 million.

The army is under civilian control. The Commander-in-Chief is the Grand Duke, but day-to-day responsibility for defence matters is vested in the Minister for Defence, currently Jean-Louis Schiltz (since February 22, 2006), under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration.

Luxembourg has financially supported international peacekeeping missions during the 1991 Gulf War, in Rwanda and, more recently, Albania. The army also has participated in humanitarian relief missions such as setting up refugee camps for Kurds and providing emergency supplies to Albania.

there are a million other reasons to consider this one of the finest examples of people governing themselves without having to prove how MACHO they are by developing Weapons of Mass Destruction. Unlike the so-called "superpowers" in this world.

I'd have to pick America and Egypt...

Although I DEPISE the goverments of both.

I am Egyptian but was born and raised in the States.

I love Egypt's history and I am very proud of being Egyptian...although Egypt has had the same corrupt president for the last 50 years who has done nothing but steal the citizen's money...

And I love everything about America! I love the foundations and the freedom here- although some Republicans are beginning to forget the meaning of freedom but that's a different story. Anyhow- I also hate the president of America for many, many reasons.

But I beleive both countries are the best :-)

I believe that switzerland is a great country and they know how to stay neutral in foriegn policy. They also have damn near zero crime but yet every house is required to have protective firearms. They are a tight country that looks out for each other...I am from the USA and i do love my country, but we are not as united as Switzerland.

Canada

8 Th generation born and raised here. Land of free independent thinking, religious freedom, health care and great education. We are no melting pot but more a tossed salad. Immigrants come here and keep their own flavour but blend beautifully with the rest of us. Admired on the world stage and politically sound.

"The Best Country in the World" is really
a matter of one's own experience...
A country is only Best if you make the best
of your own experience visiting there.

As for me, personally, I like Puerto Rico
because it is part of my heritage; and I love
the year-round nice weather there.

I also like the city of Berlin (Germany) because
I was stationed there during my military service
during the mid-'80s...
...during my off-duty personal time, I played music
in punk bands there, and played at a few venues.
The people I've met there were very Open-Minded
and receptive to sharing in various cultural activities.
Commutting through Berlin is easy as a breeze
with their public transportation being sooo accessible,
that I could be anywhere in the city within the hour,
day and night- 24/7.
Berlin Really Knows how to Party!

I dream of visiting Japan someday, so that I could
visit my favorite Japanese toystores and hobbyshops,
and stand beside their 6ft tall Japanese super-robot
statues: Mazinger-Z is my favorite robot.
I would also like to meet Mazinger-Z's creator,
the Honorable Mr. Go Nagai, who is a Legendary
manga/anime master throughout his lifelong career
in manga and anime, since the '60s.
When he released Mazinger-Z in 1972, he set the
all-time standard for Japanese Anime.

I would also like to visit Spain, to see the giant lifelike
statue of Mazinger-Z in the city of Tarragona; and meet
all my spanish friends, who are also Mazinger-Z fans.

I was born and raised in New York City... I am a
native "NewYorican". I currently live in upstate NY
where it is less stressful than NYC is nowadays.

When I reach my age of retirement, I want to settle
down, in my own house, in Puerto Rico...
...it's toooo Cold to grow Old here in upstate NY!

Define "best"

I'm from the United States. I personally like everyone who hates us. Particularly, traditional Muslims and their respective countries. China and Russia, too.
