Ferrets are social animals and need a lot of interaction, be it from you, another ferret or a combination of the two (preferable). They a very intelligent and each has it's own distinct personality. It will have different needs met in the way of social interaction by you and another ferret. The different qualities you each present help to fulfill and round out the first ferrets wants and needs; so, the attachments will be formed for equal but oft times different reasons. One is neither more nor less than the other, just different. The ferret will still react and/or grieve the same if you or another ferret is suddenly not there. They are also capable of displaying jealousy of each other and you.

no they can be depressed if they are by themselves unless they have constant interaction. my aunt had like half a dozen to a dozen of them at certain times and they all loved to be with us all the time.

absolutley not! they need a playmate, and can be very lonely without one, and as long as you play with them, they will be very attached to you too!!
