People choose a president via an election, a monarch is a monarch because they were the daughter or son of a previous monarch.

A monarch is usually a Figurehead without any real power whereas a president is elected and has the power and the job of running the country.

i believe that monarchs are descended from former monarchs and are merely figureheads with no real power . presidents are elected by the people , wield power , and are in office for a proscribed term ; while monarchs remain , regardless of elections by the people which change government figures .

a president is only in power for 4-8 years while a monarch can rule for their whole life or until they want to resign and give the throne to their child
