I don't think he can lose.

He understands economic issues and will win economic conservatives.

He's a mormon so he'll win social conservatives.

And he's even better-looking than Gary Hart so he'll win most of the women's vote (seriously, they loved JFK and RFK, there was no other reason to vote for Kerry, let's stop beating around the bush and admit that 50% of women vote for the cute guy).

Romney will win in '08.

Neocons and conservatives might have a problem voting for him because they think he's a socialist. He helped create Universal Health care for Massachusetts. I myself have a bigger problem with what I see as political pandering. It seems when politicians decide they want to run for the presidency, they figure out which group can help them garner votes, and they switch positions. If Kerry got labeled a flip-flopper, Democrats will have a field day with Romney.

Mitt, John McCain, Hillary, John Kerry; they're all a bunch of phonies.

For God sakes would it hurt for someone to maintain their convictions for once. The sad thing is, the answer is yes. You can't be president unless you acquiesce to whichever group can give you the election.

(I don't think Americans are ready for a Mormon. It's kind of similar to the "Are Americans ready for a Black/Women" questions.)

I really don't think we can say this early as most people don't know that much about him. I do agree with you that he has the appearance of a President; he looks approachable and honest. I do know that he has done great things in the business world and has worked really well with people across the board, regardless of party. I don't think I'd go giving him the conservative vote so quickly as many Christians have issues with Mormons, but in reality this shouldn't be an issue, because they shouldn't look at the particular religion, but the way the religion causing them to live. If he does get the nod from the GOP I think I would lean towards him, and I've always been a Democrat, because currently there are no Democrats that excite me.

go to the south... go to 80 percent of the people that voted for Bush and ask them why...

they will say something like this "because he is a good Christian man"...

then ask them what they think about Mormons...

you will get something like "that's some kinda cult, isn't it?"

and, if he gets the nomination... it WILL become an issue... and when some of the "details" of the Mormon faith come out in "what do you know about Mormans?" ads... I don't know if the south can deal with it, especially if he's running against a Christian... like an Edwards...

"social conservative" is much more than just values... it's a religion... and Romney HAS to have the south to win... unless there is a HUGE shift from now to the next election... which is possible...

He has a long record of being anti gun. Don't know why the NRA is showing him off at some gun shows. Oh well anymore the NRA stands for Negotiate Rights Away. Shame the Wife and I have both been Life Members for over 20 years. The GOA is a way better pro gun group. Heck i'll vote Constitution Party anyway. Both the Democrats and Republicans have been bought and paid for by the Cooperate Elite years ago

No, he will not win. The reason is because he is a Mormon. He is being touted as saving the Olympics when they were in Utah and Utah is a Mormon state, so of course they supported his efforts.
Mormons think of non-Mormons as "abominations" and once that becomes public knowledge any right thinking person wouldn't vote for him.
He's doomed even though his Church has BILLIONS of $$ to put into his campaign.
He is also playing the "Political Game", say and do anything to get elected, i.e. his change of mind on abortion, gay marriage, etc.
No way, he'll never get elected.

Romney and Condi are consistent liars. If Romney heavily desires to win the election with even the slightest little bit of help from the constitutionalists, then have an honest and stressful working guy like Ron Paul being the vice chairman nominee. whilst I and assorted others will nonetheless no longer vote for him in that concern, many might flow in want of him if he made that determination.

I'm British, so I don't know a lot about this guy, but he sounds great.

The two things that make me glad I'm not American are:

1. the whole thing about you having the right to have a gun. Guns are illegal over here, even the police don't carry them and it would freak me out to think my neighbour had one. If he's anti-gun and he gets elected, maybe I could move to Florida after all.

2. You have to pay for your medical treatment. Hard to believe that in a developed country, people die because they don't have the money to buy medication or pay a doctor. So if this thing about healthcare in Massachusetts means what I think it means, it's a step in the right direction.

I can't vote for him. Will someone vote for him for me?

I do not have that much knowledge on him. I want to know how he will deal with terrorism, Iraq, Iran and North Korea. If he is willing to be firm, he has my vote.

I don't care who wins as long as it is not: Clinton, Kerry, or McCain.
