My first thought was exactly what renrat and RUDOLF M said: Read a book. Now, not all books are worth reading, and I've had plenty of experience in that area to truly recommend you go to a bookstore or library, depending on your financial situation, and truly SHOP for a book to read. There's truly a lot of nonsense (to use a more "acceptable" word) out there that have catchy titles and covers, and truly aren't worth your time to read. Sadly, however, publishers have gone to great extent to catch your attention, and your bucks, and give you pathetic trash to read. You're most likely going to spend money on trash to read, or check out books at the library that you wish you hadn't, but, it takes time to develop the skill of learning enough about the book before you purchase it or check it out, to be more certain of your selection. But, that's a price we all have to pay. I always want to simply open the book and look at the pages and see how my eyes react to what it sees. If pages are too bright and if the print is too small or a little fuzzy, I can tell you that your eyes ain't gonna like that after a few pages. Of course, your eyes need to be in good shape too, so . . .. If it has a cover on it, I look to the inside of the back flap and it usually has something about the author, and maybe even a picture. If I don't like what I see or read, well, so much for that book. But, I've taken chances on that, so, you may have to do the same. And then, of course, you have to know some general topics you're interested in, and see what books there are, and whether they are "reliable" in their information. Again, there's a lot of trash out there, making huge claims about how authoritative they are, or what excellent literary works of art they are. Read closely before you make your selection, realize you're gonna make some bad choices from time to time, and then get to it. Reading has an unbelievable way of curing boredom in that it literally takes you away from where you are, into a whole 'nuther world, and when you finally return to your world, a lot of time has gone by, as did the boredom. God Bless you.

Go to an AOL chatroom entitled "Christian beliefs" and pretend to be an atheist. Or go to the Atheist room and pretend to be a Fundamental Bible Belter... I'm neither, and both are a blast!
