Ok I'm having some troubles sleeping it usually takes me an hour and a half sometimes a lot longer to fall asleep. And when I do finally get to sleep I wake up two or more times in the middle of the night and it takes me a long time to get back to sleep. About a month ago I woke up at 1:00 am and it took me about 20 minutes to get back to sleep, but I woke up every hour after that until I had to get up for school. I don't know what to do DO NOT SAY COUNT SHEEP!!!!!!!

Here goes from a person who suffered from the same thing and from a Mom.

1- Get yourself in to a nightly routine.
2- Drink a herbal tea with chamomile in it. I like Sleepy Time made by Celestial Seasonings. Add no more than a teaspoon of honey if you prefer it sweetened.
3- Take a warm bath and relax in it.
4- Try a yoga technique... Starting with your toes, mentally relax portions of your body working your way up ... think "toes relax, toes relax, toes relax, toes relax, feet relax, feet relax, etc etc." I know it sounds TOTALLY STUPID and Lame, but it does work. I thought my mom had lost her ever loving crazy mind when she suggested it to me, but I got so frustrated one night I tried it and was out like a light in no time.
5- If you "must" have the TV on when you go to bed set the sleep timer for no more than 30 mins and when it goes off, close your eyes and just relax. Don't turn it back on.
6- All else fails, talk to your mom or dad. If you are really and truly concerned about it. Maybe they can get you herbal sleep aid and maybe they'll think it's something your doctor should take a look at.

Hope I helped. Good luck!!

Try being more physically active during the day. Form a calming routine to do everyday before bed. Don't indulge in sugary snacks before bed. Don't try to sleep with the TV on, or read action/adventure books before bed. Everyone has a hard time sleeping once in a while. Sometimes it's because you have a lot on your mind, sometimes it's cause your worrying about getting up late, or got too much sleep. Stress can also be an important factor.....if it continues to be a problem talk to your parents about it.

Hey! That always happens to me and I'm only 12. It started, I guess, about 4th grade. I don't know why I get so distracted from my sleep. At most, I couldn't even sleep for 3 hours. Fastest time for me to sleep was about an hour. I say just drink a lot of water and clear your mind. Let your mind rest. Or be really active during the day so that when you're gonna snooze, you sleep easily.

- Try making a routine. Like put on PJ's, brush your teeth and do something relaxing.
- Go to bed at a regular time
- Do not eat or drink anything sugary or caffinated 4 hours before bed. It keeps you up.
- Do not do anything really exciting before bed.
- Try drinking warm milk
- Read, watch TV, or put in a relaxation tape
- Take Gravol or Bendryl nighttime to help you
- Close your door, close your blinds, keep warm, keep the room dark, and quiet
- Lay still, do not move around a lot
- Don’t lie in bed awake. Go into another room and do something relaxing until you feel sleepy. Worrying about falling asleep actually keeps many people awake.

This is just a personal advice, not a medical one but it may work well to your situation now: Have a light jogging activity for at least 30 mins... here's a suggested program to follow: if you are a beginner, (a) 2 mins regular jog with an interval of (b) 20 seconds walk to relax or cool-down your heartbeat after a 2 mins jogging. Before and after jogging, do some stretching. *best time to do this is at least 2 hrs before your time of sleeping. Additional tip: drink a glass of milk before going to bed. Hope for the best. regards,

Are you stressed out or have something important on your mind it could be that. You need to read while in bed and have a warm glass of milk to relax you. I was told one time to take a clear glass of water and put it at the head of my bed or on a night stand and I tried this and fell a sleep and slept thru the night. Try it and see if it works for you. Good luck.

Relax your body. Relax each part of your body, starting at your toes and say a prayer. Then do thesame thing, for your ankles this time; continue all the way up your body.
By the time you get to your head and your face, you will be almost asleep. If not, do it again. It will work.
Oh, yes, and make sure you are very warm and have plenty of blankets over you.

That was happening to me and I tried to take sleeping pills and nothing worked. I finally went to the doctor and found out that I had been suffering from anxiety. They said it was a chemical imbalance and prescribed some pills and now I sleep beautifully. Go to a website on anxiety and take their quiz. I can't remember the website, type "anxiety self help quiz" and answer the questions and see if you are. Good Luck and sweet dreams.:)
