You could talk to your OBGYN about the Depo-Provera shot. Weight gain is one of the side effects.

Birth contol usually causes a woman to gain weight, so it's probably not the pill making you lose weight. You should try supplementing w/ protien shakes along w/ eating at least 3 times a day. And have dessert!

If you want to gain weight, consider on getting the birth control shot. A good percentage of the time it makes people gain weight, plus, you don't have to take it everyday! I was on ortho-tricyclin once and that also made me gain weight.

That's awesome. If that's right, I am SO going to the doctor to switch to that. I have always heard that the birth control shot makes you gain weight. Everyone that has had it says that. Haven't had it myself though.

My understanding is that the higher the dosage of hormones, the more extreme will be the side effects of hormonal birth control; one of which is often weight gain.
But you should talk to your physician--if you're losing weight without trying to, you could have a medical condition for which you may need medical attention.

They all say that they can make you lose weight but really most of them don't. I have tried about 8-9 different ones and have never lost weight, in fact with some of them I have gained. I have used ortho-tri cyclen, junel, junel fe and many others. Just talk to your doctor about switching! It's no big deal to change.
