I use a 1500 watt Comfort Zone electric heater to heat my garage in the winter for short periods of time. I am wondering how to calculate the electricity cost per hour to operate the heater?

1kw=1000watts
elctricity is sold by the kilowatt.
ure using 1.5 kw/hr so if u pay $.10 for a kw, your heater costs $.15/hr on high setting.
u can get "kill-a-watt" meter from radio shack for $25. great!
read your electric bill

Where I live, Southern California Edison charges for electricity on an incremental scale, much like income taxes for the IRS are calculated on an incremental scale. The top electricity rate for residential users is around 30¢ per kilowatt hour. Your electric heater, being 1½ kilowatts, would cost around 45¢ per hour at that rate. Look at your electric bill: the rates should be clearly shown.

$25-30 month depending on the electric cost per klwt. the newest models shut off after twelve hours by them selfs.
I did run one of these through a couple of winters for my shed where I store some paint i didn't what to freeze. electricity is reasonable were I live but some places are very expensive. read the manufactures rate of usage. and check the rate you pay per kilowatt on your electric bill that will give you and idea based on how many hours you intend to use it. these units are not for primary heat source but just to take the chill out of things. good luck

Depends on how much you pay for electricity and how long you leave the heater on for. If you pay 8 Cents/Kw/hr then each hour will cost you 12 cents.
