Does anyone know how I can get a cheap 6-string bass? What does a 6-string bass normally cost? It's just that I've looked everywhere and I haven't even seen one yet alone been able to get hold of one.
Please put this bassist out of her misery!

It won't be brilliant, but my son has a Harley Benton Accoustic bass and he is very happy with it (he is 16).

H-B Is a brand name usedby one of the Far_East factories that make the cheap versions of brand name guitars, such as BC Rich, Epiphone and such like.

The tuning is different. It would KINDA be like a guy who plays a 7 string guitar, going to a 6 string bass... But guess what, the neck on a bass is freaking HUGE. It's hard to make adjustments on a neck that long. Then, on a 6 string bass, your neck gets super wide too. Last, you don't need to play chords on a bass. Generally, that low of an octave it will start to sound muddy when you play more than 2 or 3 strings at a time. So if you're use to playing a 6 string guitar, you'll want a 4 string bass.

I'm not familiar with the local music shops in your neck of the woods...you would be best off looking for the Peavey Grind or an ESP B-206, both are in the $450-$550 range here in the states. Sixes aren't cheap, so be prepared to pay a little more than you think you should.

Bassists aren't ever in misery :)

Check out the Rogue LX406. A buddy of mine has one and loves it. For $230 USD, it's an awesome deal. Sorry, I don't know if it's available in the UK, but it's a fine instrument for the price.

Ibanez makes a really nice one! It retails for like $400-$500, you could probably check out their website. We have a local store here that gets them in sometimes, but they go super fast! You could always check local pawn shops, too, but good luck finding one that someone actually wanted to part with LOL :) Good luck!!
