I have read that businesses are looking for graduates to head their management programs and such that have backgrounds in economics, finance, and accounting rather than plan BBA in Management.

If I were planning on climbing the ladder once I got out of college, what would be the best major to market myself with? I have no plans on becoming a CPA unless I cannot find a suitable starting location/position.

I'm probably biased since it is my major, but I do think Accounting is a great major. The bottom line, as far as I see it, is that no matter what you're doing in a business, you will probably need to do it along the lines of some kind of budget. And if you're working for a publicly traded company, you're also probably going to be part of the year end audit every year.

If your choices are among economics, finance or accounting, I would say definitively that accounting is the best bet. You have to have a relatively firm understanding of the other two in order to be a successful accounting major. Also, accounting is the only one out of the three that would basically guarantee a job if you ever decided to use that degree instead of going into management. I can't say I agree with your decision not to get CPA certified though. The test is very in depth, and if you don't take it right away and want to use your accounting background as your career later on, it would be much harder to go back and prepare later than to just go for it right when you finish. These days, many employers consider CPA certification and MBA's about equally, at least if you're going into an accounting job, so getting the CPA certification is definitely faster and cheaper than another year or two in school!

you may grow to be a CPA with a Finance degree, you'll purely ought to take better instructions outside of school. Finance ranges are better versatile than accounting ones. i think like you get a better rounded look on the completed finance international too, not purely accounting. in case you minor/ get a certificate or in spite of your college gives you in accounting, you're waiting to get round taking the instructions outside of school.
