NO! Unless you own the commercial/industrial property. It is known as open container in public. Even if in your car, your on public or private property without permission. It is illegal and yes you can get a citation if caught so please, watch yourself. It's not a good thing to have on record.

As the other answerers have suggested, this is a nuance of DUI laws that vary from state to state. In my state, you could drink in a parked car in a private parking lot. You could not do so in a public parking lot or parked along a public road. It also would not be a violation of the open container law in my state if you were on private property. Being drunk in public is not against the law in my state. You have to be drunk and something else--usually "drunk and disorderly." All in all-it's a bad idea.

In Iowa it's a violation of the open container law. If you're in the driver's seat it could be a DUI

Not a good idea. Will give cops the impression you have an open container in car while driving.

It will depend from state to state...
In California, if you have an open container IN the car you can be fined... if you have the keys in the ignition you can be charged with a DUI

If you are on private property and the owner doesn't mind you can.but get a life . If you are sitting in a car drinking you are probably up to no good.
