Below is a link to Fla. Stat. 48.021 which generally describes the requirements for becoming a process server in Florida.

From what I know, process servers in Florida need no special license. They must demonstrate to the local Sheriff that they meet all the statutory requirements (including being familiar with Florida law on service of process), and the Sheriff puts them on a list as an approved process server. You must renew this "certification" annually, but there is no formal licensure.

One thing to be wary of, the Sheriff of each county has authority to impose requirments in addition to those set out by statute. So, be sure to inquire in the count(ies) where you intend to work.

Hope this helps, and I hope you find it to be the best answer!
