Currency in Mexico?

Question

What form of payment does Xel Ha accept in Mexico? I assume cash, as in Pesos or US Dollars, but what about major credit cards... do they accept them there? Is VISA accepted in any of the restaurants or bars in the Mayan Riviera? Thanks for any help :)

credit cards are accepted in most major places in Mexico. I will tell you this however, don't use them. there is a very good chance that your card will be copied and used running up bills to your credit limit. I suggest use cash or traveler's checks only.

I have seen many using credit cards. some are lucky and some get ripped off. If you choose to use yours, contact your card company and let them know you are going to Mexico and that you will only pay for your certified purchases.

Mexicans are no more crooked than anyone else but given the chance they will steal your card number and use it.

My husband and I went there a few years ago and they accept everything under the sun. I would recommend taking cash (pesos/dollars) only because the credit card companies have funky exchange rates and you may find you've been overcharged when you get your bill. Also bring ziplock bags to keep stuff dry - there are so many fun water rides you'll be sure to have soggy money by the end of the day. It's tons of fun though and I hope you have a good trip!

Hey! They accept everything in the world, it is a tourist place!! Dn't pay to much attention to the guy telling you that the copy your credit cards, he is just a dumbass. I've went tons of times all over Mexico, payed with credit cards and never got copied any single one. Have fun!!!
